Official Rules, Terms and Conditions

No purchase or entry fee required.

Timing. The “Keepin’ It Rural in the Kitchen” Recipe Contest (“Promotion”) begins at 12:01 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on May 1, 2011, and ends at 11:59 PM ET on September 30, 2011 (the “Promotion Period”).

Overview. This is a recipe submission contest. Interested parties (the “Entrant” or

“Submitter”) may be:

a) an individual, or
b) an individual entering on behalf of a legally-registered organization or association.

Submitter may enter his/her submission(s) for judging, and prizes will be awarded to those individuals or organizations whose submissions score the highest number of points. Recipes submitted must fit into one of the following categories:

· Appetizers
· Soups, salads & breads
· Main dishes
· Side dishes
· Desserts

To Enter. There are two (2) ways to enter;

· Method #1; Online. Submitters may enter online by visiting, completing the contest registration form (including full name, address, daytime phone number, age, and email address), and uploading
a recipe entry.

· Method #2; By mail. Submitters may also enter by mail. Send your recipe and completed Entry Form (available at to: Keepin’ It Rural in the Kitchen Recipe Contest, P.O Box 1499, Columbia, SC 29202. Be sure your name, address, and phone number is affixed to the recipe entry.

The prize(s) will be awarded to the Submitter or to the organization represented by the Submitter. AgFirst Farm Credit Bank (“Sponsor”) shall not be responsible for entries not received by the close of the contest for any reason, including due to performance or nonperformance by third-party telecommunication providers and lost, late, or postage-due mailed entries. Each individual recipe may only be submitted once during the Promotion Period. Submitters may enter more than one submission, but must enter each submission as a separate contest entry. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM ET on September 30, 2011, the official end date of the Promotion Period.

Eligibility. Submitter must be at least 18 years of age at time of entry and a legal US resident living in one of the following specific states, parishes, or counties:

· All residents of the following States: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.

· Residents of Louisiana living in the following parishes: Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, LaSalle, Livingston,Madison , Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Richland, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, West Feliciana, and Winn.

· Residents of Tennessee living in the following counties: Marion, Hamilton, Bradley, Polk, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhea, Meigs, Roane, Loudon, McMinn and Monroe.

· Residents of Kentucky living in the following counties: Ballard, McCracken, Marshall, Carlisle, Hickman, Fulton, Graves, Calloway, Harrison, Scott, Bourbon, Montgomery, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Marion, Washington, Anderson, Woodford, Mercer, Boyle, Jessamine, Madison, Garrard, and Lincoln.

· Residents of Ohio living in the following counties: Crawford, Erie, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Huron, Lorain, Lucas, Marion, Morrow, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Wyandot, and Wood.

The following are not eligible to participate: a) officers, directors, and employees of Sponsor or its affiliated Farm Credit System lending associations ("Employees"), advertising and promotion agencies affiliated with Sponsor, and any other party that is directly involved with the development or implementation of this Promotion; and b) the immediate family members (spouse, parents, children, siblings, and their respective spouses) of Employees and household members with whom Employees may reside (whether related or not). This Promotion is void outside of the aforementioned geographic areas, and wherever else prohibited and/or restricted by law, and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Judging Criteria. Properly submitted entries meeting all eligibility requirements will be judged by Sponsor or its independent agent, whose decisions are final. There will be two rounds of judging. In round one, judges will select the winner of each food category (1. appetizers, 2. soups, salads & breads, 3. main dishes, 4. side dishes, 5. desserts). In round two, a qualified food expert, as determined by Sponsor, will prepare each of the five category-winning recipes (round one winners) and judges will choose the grand prize winner from among these five prepared recipes. Judges will score eligible entries based on the following criteria:

· Category winners round: a) perceived taste (how good a recipe would taste if it were prepared) (40%); b) originality and creativity (40%); and c) relevance to promotion theme (farm- and rural-related life) (20%). The entry in each food category (1. appetizers, 2. soups, salads & breads, 3. main dishes, 4. side dishes, 5. desserts) with the highest overall score will be determined the winner of the category. Ties within a category, if applicable, will be broken by another round of voting using only criterion b).

· Grand-prize-winner round: a) taste of the prepared recipe (25%); originality and creativity of the prepared recipe (25%); c) prepared dish’s relevance to the promotion theme (farm- and rural-related life) (25%); and d) visual appeal of the prepared dish (25%). Ties, if applicable will be broken by another round of voting using only criterion c).

Prize Awarding. Winners (category and grand prize) will be announced on or about November 15, 2011, from among all eligible entries received. The winners will be notified in writing on how to claim their prize within 10 days of the winner selection. As part of the prize claim process, each winner must sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Waiver, and, as applicable, a Publicity Release, within 10 days of notification. If a winner does not comply, or if winner notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and offered to the Entrant who received the next highest score, based on the judging criteria. This process will be repeated until all winners have been confirmed.

Prizes/Odds. There will be five (5) cash prizes awarded. The grand prize winner will receive $3,000. Four category winners (those who are not the grand prize winner) will receive $750. The grand prize winner will not receive a prize for winning a category. Total value of all prizes being awarded: $6,000. Odds of winning will be based on the outcome of judging and the number of submissions.


a) By submitting an entry, Entrant warrants and represents that: (i) he/she is the sole and exclusive owner of all rights in the recipe being submitted to Sponsor; and (ii) the recipe has not been entered in any previous competition
or won any previous awards or competitions and is not subject to any lien or encumbrance; and (iii) Submitter has the full and exclusive right, power and authority to submit the recipe entry, and to grant Sponsor
the rights to the submission, provided in Section 10(d) below, without further compensation; and (iv) no rights in the submission have been previously granted to any other person, firm, corporation, or entity;

b) Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any submission at any time in the event Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, that the submission is offensive, inappropriate, not in keeping with Sponsor’s image, or that an Entrant
has not otherwise complied with these Official Rules, Terms, and Conditions.

c) If the submission contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Submitter and/or that are subject
to the rights of third parties, the Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the recipe, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the submission by Sponsor. This includes, but is not limited to, recipes protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, etc.

d) By submitting an entry and in consideration of the opportunity to win one of the prizes described herein which Submitter acknowledges is good and valuable consideration, Submitter agrees to assign and hereby does assign to Sponsor all rights, title, and interest in the recipe and the copyrights in the submitted work of authorship, which include the right to make copies of the work of authorship, the right to make derivative works based on the work of authorship by editing, adapting or altering in any way the original submission, the right to distribute and sell copies of the work of authorship or any derivative thereof, and the right to publicly perform and publicly display the work of authorship or any derivative thereof in the United States and throughout the world including use on the Internet or in any other manner of Sponsor’s choice without attribution or further compensation. Use of a submission by Sponsor does not suggest in any way that the Submitter is a winner. By submitting an entry, Entrant also:   (i) grants Sponsor and its affiliated associations permission to copyright and use the recipe in any manner or form for any lawful purpose at any time; and (ii) Entrant waives all rights to inspect or approve any finished product or any written copy that may be used in conjunction with the recipe; and (iii) Entrant waives all claim of ownership or other interest in the recipe; and (iv) Entrant releases and discharges Sponsor from any liability by virtue of any alteration that may occur in the use and/or editing of the recipe.

e) In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting a submission, the submission will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the email account is registered.

f) By claiming a prize, Submitter agrees that Sponsor and its officers, employees, shareholders, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind related to participation in this Promotion, or from acceptance or use/misuse of any prize offered.

g) Acceptance of a prize shall constitute Submitter’s agreement that Sponsor or its agent(s) may use and/or display the winner’s name, address (city, state only), likeness, biographical information, and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes, without further consideration, except where prohibited by law.

h) All taxes on prizes (if applicable) are the sole responsibility of the Submitter.

i) Prizes are not transferable or assignable, except to a surviving spouse, or at the sole discretion of Sponsor.

Direct Marketing. By entering the Promotion, Entrant acknowledges that he/she may receive various marketing or other information from Sponsor or its affiliated lending associations regarding their products or services. If an Entrant does not desire to receive this information, an Entrant may opt out by notifying Sponsor by:
